1. Justice is a French electronic music duo consisting of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. They are known for incorporating strong rock and disco influences into their music and image. The band's debut album Cross was released in June 2007 to critical acclaim. The album was later nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album and came in at number 15 on Pitchfork's "Top 50 Albums of 2007" and number 18 on Blender's "25 Best Albums of 2007" list. It was nominated for the 2007 Shortlist Music Prize, losing out to The Reminder by Feist. The band's remix of the MGMT song "Electric Feel" won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical in 2009. In September 2009, it was announced that Justice would be moving to WMG/Atlantic's newly relaunched Elektra Records label. The band reportedly started to work on its second album in mid-2010. The first single entitled "Civilization" was released on 28 March 2011. The band released its second album, Audio, Video, Disco, on 24 October 2011. This was followed by the live album on 7 May 2013, titled Access All Arenas. Justice announced their third album, Woman, through their Facebook page, and it was released on 18 November 2016. The band won a 2019 Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album for their album Woman Worldwide. After a hiatus of seven years, Justice released its fourth album Hyperdrama on 26 April 2024. The record was nominated for the 67th Grammy Awards for Best Electronic/Dance Album, with the single "Neverender" featuring Tame Impala winning Best Electronic/Dance Recording. The duo collaborated with the Weeknd on the song "Wake Me Up", which serves as the opening track from the latter's sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025). 2. Justice were a Belgian hardcore punk band active between 2003 and 2008, with occasional reunion shows in later years. The band’s most known members consisted of lead vocalist Switch, guitarists Tilberg and Stief (who played drums in the band’s earlier days), and bassist Spoiler. Formed in Ghent in the summer of 2003, the group was started by a group of young hardcore enthusiasts who were dissatisfied with what they saw as a stagnant scene at the time. Motivated to bring renewed energy and conviction, Justice quickly developed a reputation for their forceful live performances, strong DIY ethic, and a willingness to push their sound beyond traditional hardcore boundaries. The band’s first recording was the Breakout demo released in 2003, which was soon followed by their debut EP, Look Alive. Their early releases carried the urgency of youth crew–inspired hardcore but with a distinct melodic sensibility. Over the following years, they put out additional records, including their self titled debut album (2005) and the Up and Down / Push It to Edge EP (2006), both of which broadened their sound and lyrical scope. Throughout their existence, Justice were known for handling much of their own promotion and tour booking, reflecting their commitment to hardcore’s do-it-yourself tradition. In 2007, Justice released their second and most acclaimed full-length album, Escapades, through Reflections Records. Featuring guest vocals from Richie Birkenhead of Into Another and Underdog on the opening track “I Need Air,” the record demonstrated a more melodic and soulful approach while retaining the band’s raw intensity. Songs such as “Unsure” and the closing “Oh How We Laughed” revealed a willingness to experiment with groove, atmosphere, and introspection, making Escapades stand out from many contemporaneous hardcore releases. Critics and fans alike noted the album’s blend of anger, energy, and sincerity, which contributed to its lasting impact within the scene. During their active years, Justice toured extensively across Europe, the United States, and Japan, earning a loyal following within the international hardcore community. Their tireless work ethic, coupled with their emphasis on authenticity and direct expression, made them one of the most respected European hardcore acts of the 2000s. The band officially disbanded in 2008 after several farewell shows, their final being on March 3, 2008, though they have reunited sporadically for select performances in London and other cities. The Live and Learn EP would be released later in 2008 through Six Feet Under Records. 3. Justice are a thrash/death metal band from Franconia, Germany. The band was founded in 1993.
